This Privacy Policy governs the processing of personal data by BudgetSnap, accessible as an Android application and through the official website at budgetsnap.thoutam.com.

2 Information We Collect
We adhere to strict data minimization principles. We only process data required to deliver core expense tracking, receipt digitization, and financial budgeting:
Receipt Images: Photographs or digital scans of receipts, restaurant bills, retail invoices, or tickets that you take with your camera or select from your gallery.
Parsed Receipt Information (OCR): Optical Character Recognition results containing vendor/merchant names, purchase dates, itemized transaction entries, currency codes, subtotal, tax amounts, and total expenditure.
Financial Tracking Entries: Custom expense categories (e.g. Groceries, Shopping, Travel), monthly budget thresholds, transaction timestamps, payment method tags (e.g. Cash, Card label only), and personal budgeting notes. We never ask for or store credit card numbers, CVVs, or online banking credentials.
Device & App Diagnostics: Technical telemetry including device hardware model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, language preference, app version, and diagnostic crash logs used solely for bug fixes and stability monitoring.
User Communications: Feedback, inquiries, and customer support messages sent to us via email or WhatsApp.
3 Device Permissions & Access Justifications
BudgetSnap requests only explicit Android permissions that are directly necessary for feature functionality:
Camera Permission (android.permission.CAMERA): Purpose: Exclusively allows you to snap photos of physical paper receipts within the app's scanner screen so our OCR algorithm can extract the expense totals automatically. Protection: The camera is never accessed silently, never runs in the background, and does not record audio or video.
Photos & Media Access (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / Storage): Purpose: Enables you to select existing receipt photos or PDF invoices from your device storage, and allows you to save exported financial reports (CSV / PDF format) directly to your files. Protection: BudgetSnap only accesses the specific files you deliberately choose to import.
Internet Access (android.permission.INTERNET): Purpose: Required to fetch live foreign exchange conversion rates for Travel Mode, transmit crash diagnostics, and perform secure cloud synchronization if enabled.
4 How We Use Your Data
Your data is processed strictly for the following purposes:
Digitizing receipt photographs into categorized transaction entries via OCR.
Executing live foreign exchange rate conversions when Travel Mode is active.
Generating downloadable and shareable expense reports for tax, business reimbursement, or personal records.
Diagnosing application crashes, troubleshooting software bugs, and responding to support tickets.
Safeguarding our users and systems against fraudulent or abusive use.
5 Third-Party Service Providers & Zero-Sale Guarantee
Strict Zero-Sale Commitment
We explicitly DO NOT sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal information, receipts, or financial data to data brokers, advertising networks, or third-party marketing entities under any circumstances.
We may share limited data with trusted infrastructure providers who assist us in operating BudgetSnap:
Cloud & Hosting Infrastructure: Cloud hosting and content delivery providers (including Cloudflare) for secure hosting, DDoS protection, and SSL/TLS encryption.
Legal Disclosures: We may disclose data only if required by valid legal process, judicial subpoena, or court order, or to prevent imminent fraud or harm.
6 Data Retention & User Deletion Policy (Google Play Compliant)
We retain your personal data and receipts only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the application's functionality.
User Data Deletion Instructions
In compliance with Google Play Developer Policies and global privacy regulations, you have the absolute right to delete all your personal data, receipts, and account records.
In-App Deletion: You can delete any receipt image, expense entry, category, or clear local app storage directly within the BudgetSnap app settings at any time.
Full Account & Server Erasure: To permanently delete your entire account, all receipt scans, and all server-synced records, click the button below or email [email protected] with the subject line "BudgetSnap Data Deletion Request".
Deletion Timeline: We will execute your deletion request within thirty (30) calendar days. All associated records, receipt images, and backup copies will be permanently purged without possibility of recovery.

Encryption in Transit: All communications between the BudgetSnap application and servers are secured using TLS 1.3 / HTTPS.
Encryption at Rest: Stored data and receipt files are protected using industry-standard AES encryption.
Access Controls: Administrative access is restricted to authorized personnel using multi-factor authentication under strict need-to-know protocols.
